Teresa is the founder and executive directer of Slice of Heaven Educational Farms, and this farm is her lifelong passion project. Teresa has been involved in education her whole life; she homeschooled her two daughters, worked for the American Red Cross as a lifeguard and CPR instructor Trainer for over a decade, and believes that education is in investment in our collective future. Her love for animals and passion for education have come together in the past while she worked as a District Commissioner for the US Pony Club, and when she owned and operated Heaven's Gate, where she taught riding lessons and swim lessons as well as ran equine-oriented Summer camps and internships. Teresa has a special passion for special needs children, and spent years working for Peaceable Kingdom, where she led an animal therapy program that empowered special needs children to ride horses, learn how to care for farm animals, and learn about and interact with local wildlife like snakes and tarantulas. All of these experiences have led her to open Slice of Heaven Educational Farms, where she can combine her passions for animals and teaching children into one fun-filled educational hub!

Jane and her husband Cliff have 5 children. She has taken active roles in her local church, including nursery, children's ministry and small group leadership. She is a speech pathologist by education. She also has her lifetime teaching certificate from both Texas and ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International). She taught in the classroom for 18 years. She set standards in her classroom which emphasized working hard and "playing" hard. Included in "playing" were lots of hands on activities and field trips. That is one reason she is so excited to have the opportunity to partner with Slice of Heaven Educational Farm where playing hard and learning go hand-in-hand resulting in a fantastic educational experience for students and teachers alike.
I grew up on an 80 acre farm in Michigan with my parents, 6 siblings and numerous foster children. We had horses, pigs, goats, sheep, cows and chickens. We grew hay, corn and popcorn! My dad had honey bees and a huge garden. There was plenty to do and we all enjoyed working on the farm. I have wonderful memories of farm life and seeing everyone interact to accomplish tasks and learn new things. Now, I have my own horse. I love riding and sharing that joy with others. These are a few reasons why I like being a part of Slice of Heaven Educational Farm.
After graduating from high school, I completed beauty school and got my first job. Shortly thereafter, I moved to Texas with my brother and got a job leasing apartments in Killeen. I soon became the manager, overseeing 200 apartments and 5 staff members. Over the course of 8 years, I moved to different properties within the company to help resolve issues at different complexes. After taking a break to have raise our children, I started working at a western store at Ft. Hood. When the owner opened a second store, I became a manager. I was privileged to manage both stores and supervise 10 staff members for 13 years. I currently enjoy more time with my husband, children and grandchildren while working part-time for a tire company. I am also the president of a horse club. Our officers and committee members work hard to plan both day rides and 4 weekend rides each year.
Chelsea currently lives in Salado with her husband, son and daughter, and of course, a menagerie of animals to keep them company. Serving on the board for Slice of Heaven Education Farm is an expression of her purpose, to explore and nurture simplicity. The farm allows kids and families to explore the simple joys of animals, outdoors and time together. Throughout her life, Chelsea has been captivated by the powerful lessons animals can teach. She grew up riding and training horses as well as volunteering at a riding therapy program for children. She also knows the powerfully healing spirit of dogs and volunteers with her pediatric therapy dogs to help children recover physically and emotionally. She is a teacher through and through. That role has been expressed as a professor of Anatomy and Physiology, a Junior Olympic Archery coach, training horses and dogs and her most important teaching roll...Mom.
