Teresa is the founder and executive directer of Slice of Heaven Educational Farms, and this farm is her lifelong passion project. Teresa has been involved in education her whole life; she homeschooled her two daughters, worked for the American Red Cross as a lifeguard and CPR instructor Trainer for over a decade, and believes that education is in investment in our collective future. Her love for animals and passion for education have come together in the past while she worked as a District Commissioner for the US Pony Club, and when she owned and operated Heaven's Gate, where she taught riding lessons and swim lessons as well as ran equine-oriented Summer camps and internships. Teresa has a special passion for special needs children, and spent years working for Peaceable Kingdom, where she led an animal therapy program that empowered special needs children to ride horses, learn how to care for farm animals, and learn about and interact with local wildlife like snakes and tarantulas. All of these experiences have led her to open Slice of Heaven Educational Farms, where she can combine her passions for animals and teaching children into one fun-filled educational hub!

My husband and I have been active on the farm since it opened and absolutely love it. I have always taken active roles in work and community settings. I am blessed to have been offered the opportunity to be involved at the farm. I am a speech pathologist by education and have my teaching certificates from both Texas and ACSI. I taught in the classroom for 18 years where I emphasized working hard and "playing" hard. Included in "playing" were lots of hands-on activities and field trips. That is one reason I am so excited to partner with Slice of Heaven Educational Farm where playing hard and learning go hand-in-hand resulting in a fantastic educational experience for students, teachers and families.
I am a 5th generation Texan. Our family farm is in Granger, Texas. I’m a director at Agape Preschool in Temple. I respect and value the importance of farm life and educating our youth. I found Slice of Heaven educational farm during the Covid lock down. My daughter was struggling with lack of socialization and depression. I signed her up for a camp. The outdoors, fresh air and animals were a perfect fit for her soul. After camps she began horse riding lessons. We haven’t left the farm since. My goal is to help build Slice of Heaven Educational Farm because I think everyone can benefit from sunshine and horses.

Currently, as the only human resident in the Barn he interacts and watches out for the well-being of all species and breeds of farm animals as well as the local wildlife.
My husband and I live in Holland with our band of rescues, 4 dogs and 5 cats. We have 2 adult children, 2 grand-pups and 2 grand-cats. My family started volunteering at the farm in 2020 and fell in love with it. The more time we spent on the farm the more we learned the importance of the farm to all ages and animals. I love my time volunteering on the farm and I’m so proud to now be a Board Member and contribute more to this wonderful place. In my spare time, I’m at the farm riding my horse, Liberty or going camping and trail riding.
