Riding Lessons

Slice of Heaven Educational Farm is offers riding lessons for children, youth and adults.

*Please NOTE: We currently have a waiting list for lessons.

Lessons at Slice of Heaven Educational Farm are run according to the United States Pony Club Standards. This technique is based on the ground up system. Students will learn not only how to ride their chosen discipline (English or Western), but how to brush and tack-up, as well as horse anatomy and equipment.  Finally, they learn the groundwork skills needed to bond with the horse. This method teaches accountability and trust throughout their riding time...skills they can take with them wherever they go.

Who teaches the lessons?

Riding Lessons

Lessons are taught by Teresa and Alexa.

Below, Alexa shares a glimpse of her experience and her love for horses.

As a child growing up, I loved horses. They were my passion, and I was lucky enough to grow up with several in my backyard. They became my glorified babysitters, my best friends, and my one true place to express myself. At a young age I became involved in pony club, went to monthly training, summer club camps, and pony club events where I learned all the responsibilities of not only horses but teamwork as a whole. My weekends were spent taking lessons with dressage, jumping, and reigning instructors, going to horse shows as the groom or a rider, and watching clinics from which I gained much knowledge. I also spent many summers volunteering at PKRC in the horse program where we did recreational riding with therapeutic benefits. I started leaning into teaching several years ago and enjoy sharing my love and passion for horses with people of all ages. The bond between a horse and a rider is something so amazing to watch and to help develop. Happy faces and smiles of accomplishment bring joy to my soul.   I look forward to sharing that joy with you!

How much do lessons costs?

Lessons are only $50 per 1 hour session.

Riding Lessons
  • Appointments will be scheduled and paid for on a monthly basis:  $200-250/month depending on the number of sessions that month. Payment is due at the first session of the month.
  • Students are allowed 1 cancellation per month. In order for the session to be rescheduled, 24-hour advance notice must be given. The instructor will designate a make-up day/time based on her availability.
  • Bad Weather days - Weather happens!  There are bound to be days that we can't mount because of rain or other weather issues.  For the first bad weather day in a month, the lesson will be held as scheduled. It will consist of an unmounted lesson which will focus on other aspects of care for the horse.  If weather persists and multiple sessions are affected, lesson will not be held and credit will be given towards the following month’s fees.
