What is Tinkergarten?

Teresa Anderson

Tinkergarten is an outdoor, play-based learning experience where families can play together, learn together and guide their children to be ready to thrive, ready to learn and ready for anything.

Classes are held in outdoor spaces through out the community.  Classes typically meet 1 time per week for 75 minutes for 6-10 weeks depending on the the season and leader schedules.  Tinkergarten classes cover ages from babies to 8 years. Slice of Heaven Educational Farm is pleased to partner with Jane Crumley, a mother of five and retired teacher who loves seeing kids outdoors, to offer classes right here at the farm for children ages 18 months to 5 years.

*Note: due to COVID issues across the country, classes are currently be offered via Zoom.

What do we do at Tinkergarten classes?

Pat Davis

Tinkergarten has 3 primary goals with 12 fundamental skills instilled through  numerous learning experiences.

Ready to THRIVE :  empathy, resilience and wellness

Ready to LEARN :  communication, focus, social skills, sensory

Ready for ANYTHING :  problem solving, persistence, collaboration, stewardship, creativity

Guided play is our primary focus!  Leaders provide prompts/activities to get guides (parents/caregivers) and explorers (children) engaging in activities and play.  Classes are filled with routines that help explorers feel confident because they know what to expect, but also provide lots of time for them to practice and explore as they play.  We will end with a celebration time that re-caps what we learned with the guides and how to carry over to home experiences.  We are all learners - leaders, guides and explorers.

Come play and learn with us!

Is there a fee for classes?

Yes, fees are determined by Tinkergarten based on location and number of classes per season.  They offer a variety of discounts including multiple children, early bird registrations and from time to time other options.  Fees for all local classes can be found at the website: Tinkergarten. Sign up for the mailing list to get the updates about discount offers.

Tinkergarten works hard to develop lesson plans , train leaders, provide supplies for lessons, support our parks/outdoor spaces, and so much more.

You will not be charged the entry fee for Slice of Heaven Educational Farm in order to join the class.  In addition, we are offering each family 1 free farm admission day during the season.  You may come early (evening class) or stay late (morning class) to enjoy all the fun farm activities.

When are classes held?

The class schedule is currently being developed by Tinkergarten in conjunction with local leaders based on Co-vid re-opening regulations in their areas.. Tinkergarten has adjusted their program to do circle time classes via Zoom.

Features:

Live online sessions that inspire hands on, playful learning.

Kids socialize with one another as they are led through beloved songs, movement and sharing exercises.

Parents get expert-designed activity guides and live demos to help make purposeful play happen all week long.

Jane's next class will begin on January 12 at 10 -11 am.   Classes will run for 11 weeks. Registration will be by family instead of by child.. Visit https://tinkergarten.com/classes/all, enter zip code, then search "by leader" and select Jane Crumley to join our class.

How do I get started?

Visit Tinkergarten  to see listings of all classes being offered in the area.  If another leader's class works better for you - join it!  My goal it to get you outdoors and learning with your child.  I would love to have you join me, but there are other options available.  Choose the one that fits your schedule.

Looking forward to playing, exploring and learning with you soon! - Jane
